Gather these tools for the job: a pentalobe screwdriver, a small suction cup, a plastic non-marring pry tool, a phillips head screwdriver, and tweezers. Before you begin, as with most other repairs, make sure you have turned your phone off completely. Additionally, keep your screws, brackets and other pieces organized so you don’t mix them up when it comes time to reassemble your iPhone 6s Plus.

To begin, take the pentalobe screwdriver and remove two screws from the bottom of the iPhone 6s Plus. Next, stick your suction cup onto the glass screen and carefully pull up on that as you use the plastic pry tool to lift the screen from the phone, but not more than 90 degrees away from the phone. The video clears this up if that is confusing. Be gentle with your screen during this portion of the repair; damaging your screen would lead to a much more expensive repair. Then, unscrew two screws next to the charging port, remove the metal plate they held and unplug the battery. After that, remove five screws from the other metal plate and unsnap four  ribbon cables from the motherboard using the plastic pry tool. Your screen can now be lifted away and set down. The battery is held down with three adhesive strips that you can pull up gently using your tweezers and then pull them up and away with your hand, so that they do not break before you can do anything with them. Once the strips are gone use the plastic pry tool to carefully lift out the battery. If you puncture the battery, it will damage your phone. If any of the strips were left on, get them out of the phone body before you set down new adhesive strips.

Now, you can set the adhesives down, insert the replacement battery, and connect the battery to the motherboard. Plug the screen back in with the four ribbon cables and turn on the phone to make sure it works, but don’t worry too much if it does not turn on. Sometimes the phone battery will be dead on arrival, so plug it in and try again. Lines are grey areas on the iPhone 6s Plus screen indicate that connections were not firmly plugged in, so turn off the phone and try again, if the screen looks normal everything is good. Turn the phone off once more and put the remaining metal covers and screws back into the phone. Finally line the screen up starting at the top, press it into place along the edges, and return the pentalobe screws to the bottom of your iPhone 6s Plus.
