5 quick tips to make your smart phone battery last all day.

Smart Phones are some of the most useful piece of electronic equipment  on the planet.  From communication, navigation, entertainment, or even just checking what time it is, our phones are in constant use.  The bottle neck with smart phone technology though, is the battery.  Here are a few steps you can take to extend the life of your battery.

1) Dim your screen.

Your screen is one of the largest burners of battery that you phone has.  The brighter your screen is, the more battery it will suck away.  So if you need your phone to last another hour before you can recharge; dim that screen.

2) Kill any apps running in the background.

Both Android and iPhone have methods of turning off apps in the background.  A double tap of the home button will bring you your open apps on iPhone, and a tap of the menu button should bring up that menu on Android (Depending on what model of android you have.)

3)Turn off Vibration.

It takes more power to spin the little vibrating motor inside your phone, than it does to make a ‘beep’.  Turning off your vibrating notifications, as well as the keyboard button vibrate feature, will help conserve battery as well.

4) If you have an Amoled screen use a dark theme.

Samsung, Motorola, LG, and many other smaller companies have started using Amoled screens on their devices.  The nice thing about Amoled screens is that each pixel is lit independently.  The darker the pixel, the less power it needs to light up.  So a black pixel will consume less power than a white pixel.  Having a dark background on your phone, will consume less power than a white background.

5) Make sure you have good reception.

If you are out of cellular range, or only have a few bars of service.  Your phone will use more power to try and connect to the network.  Searching for network requires a great deal of power, especially for data.  Connecting to WiFi whenever possible will help conserve battery.

BONUS TIP!  If you only have access to an outlet for a limited time, turn on your airplane mode to allow your device to charge faster.
