Galaxy Tab 3 Complete Tear Down

I enjoy taking apart new electronics. Samsung is usually the best when it comes to replaceable parts. (Note 2 and 3, as well as the GS3 and GS4 all have replaceable charging ports. Other phone manufacturers do not.) Samsung made two versions of this tablet, a Galaxy Tab 3 7″ and an 8″ version. Unfortunately for this tablet, the charging port is soldered into the motherboard and cannot be replaced easily.

Amazon sells the Samsung Galaxy Tab for pretty cheap.

The parts that can be replaced by the end user w/ 15 minutes of time and a small Philips head screw driver are:

Battery

Headphone Jack,

Both loud speakers,

Front and rear camera.

I really wish they would have made the charging port replaceable, because that’s the part that suffers the most abuse on hand held devices.

When I looked at the frame design, it has a very obvious slot for an ear piece. You can see what I am talking about at [3:16] It is the same size and shape as previous ear pieces. (On their other phones like GS2 GS3 and GS4) The only thing missing is the grill slot in the digitizer where the sound would come out of. I think a 7 inch phone is overkill. But apparently some of their models have the ability to make phone calls.
